During my three years at Tenacity, my family, friends, and teachers have seen a huge change in me.  My love for reading has expanded and I love tennis with a passion.  Tenacity has definitely made a huge impact in my life and I'm glad that I decided to join.  It's a place where you don't have to be afraid to love reading or just being yourself...

Tenacity Takes Part in 2009 American Youth Policy Forum

Federal Policymakers Examine The Role of Expanded Learning Opportunities in
Preparing Youth for College and Career Success

The Tenacity After School Excellence Program recently participated in an American Youth Policy Forum at the Irving Middle School in Roslindale and the Umana Middle School Academy in East Boston. The forum panel was made up of 18 policy makers and researchers from the US Senate, House of Representatives, the American Youth Policy Forum and the US Department of Education. The goal was to look at the longer school day model that is being implemented in our schools and how after school programs become an intricate part of the school day and present a seemless connection between the students and school. The main focus of what Tenacity presented was how the Tenacity staff becomes a big part of the school by attending teachers cluster meetings, visiting classrooms and discussing individual student needs while making the students day as seemless as possible between day school subjects and after school programming. The results of the forum will be presented at a national convention in Philadelphia in April 2010.
