Tenacity seeks a Director of the Summer Tennis and Reading Program (STRP) to lead its growing 25+ site student program. This is an outstanding opportunity for an individual who is skilled at managing effective multi-site outdoor programs with a large, young staff, in delivering a high quality summer tennis and reading program.
Tenacity, Inc.:
Both programs focus on literacy, character development, and athletics for the City of Boston’s youth. In 2007, Tenacity served 675 students in the after-school programs and several thousand students in the Summer Tennis & Reading Program alone. Tenacity boasts a remarkable 4% high school drop out rate among its ASEP graduates, despite the fact that the Boston public high school dropout rate is more than 40%.
After graduating from ASEP, participants become ASEP Alumni, where they benefit from ongoing academic support, recreational and cultural opportunities, college preparation assistance and opportunities to mentor younger Tenacity students, including a paid summer job in Tenacity’s STRP. For many, it is their first paid job.
