SUMMER TENNIS & READING PROGRAM (STRP)
* PARA ESPANOL, CLIC AQUI

We are always looking for ways to improve our summer program. If you have the time, please click here to fill out our parent survey, or student survey.

In 2009, Tenacity’s Summer Tennis & Reading Program (STRP) served over 3, 500 Boston youth of all ages with tennis, literacy and fitness programs in partnership with the City of Boston’s Centers for Youth and Families.

Recent academic research has shown that a large part of the urban-suburban school performance gap can be attributed to differing summer activities. Tenacity works to narrow this gap, providing urban kids a daily dose of literacy activities throughout the summer months.

2010 SUMMER PROGRAM OVERVIEW (BOSTON)

We are working on improving the Summer Program to make it better than ever!

The 2010 Summer Program will be running Monday through Friday beginning Tuesday, July 6th and ending on August 13th.

Here's what is new for Boston Summer 2010...

Expanded Age Limits:

This summer we will accept any Boston resident between the ages 6 to 16. Minimum 2 week participation required. Children who register for a greater number of weeks will have the best opportunity to play on a team and compete in the Mayor's Cup Tournament at the end of the summer.

Session Schedule:
Studies have shown that youth ten and under learn best in short time blocks and all kids learn best amongst their peers within the same age and ability range.

Morning Session: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM for
Ages 6 - 10 years ONLY
Afternoon Session: 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM for
Ages 11 - 16 years ONLY

Program:
We'll be using the innovative QuickStart Tennis format with our 6 - 10 year old players to build their enjoyment of the game, while developing and refining their tennis skills more quickly and efficiently. Visit

http://consumers.quickstarttennis.com/

for more information about QuickStart.

During the afternoon session we'll have an expanded team tennis league so older participants will have more opportunity for competitive play.

Our Improved literacy curriculum is appropriatley tailored by age to ensure that Tenacity students maintain or increase their reading level over the summer.
Program Cost:
The program is FREE, but we are inviting families to consider making a voluntary contribution.
