2019 Tenacity Paddle Classic

Thank you to everyone who lent their support to the inaugural Tenacity Paddle Classic!
The competitive spirit was palpable, as were the camaraderie and positive vibes put forth by the wonderfully supportive participants in the Tenacity Paddle Classic on Saturday, October 26th.
There was no better display of both than from club host and Brae Burn team captain Ken Swan, who graciously welcomed Rob Wadsworth, Jeff Ward, and George Doran from the Wellesley CC, Brookline PC, and Weston Golf squads, respectively, onto his home courts, only to end the day by hoisting the team tournament trophy.
Ways to get involved:
- Support Boston programs by donating to a player, Captain, and/or team
- Not interested in playing in the Tenacity Paddle Classic tournament? You can still get in on the fundraising action by creating your own fundraising page

Frequently Asked Questions
The Tenacity Paddle Classic is a paddle and fundraising competition to support Tenacity programs. Competitive and fun play will be designed for teams comprised of two sets of men’s pairs, a women’s pair, and a mixed pair. There will be two flights of four teams. The flights will vie against each other to win the Tenacity Paddle Classic while raising money and awareness for Tenacity.
Brae Burn Country Club and Wellesley Country Club.
Each of the two flight divisions will have four teams that play intra-divisional round-robin sets to determine a flight winner. Flight winners will square off in the finals to determine the Tenacity Paddle Classic champion.
Each team will be led by a captain who will help recruit and rally team members. Teams will have four doubles pairs that can be any combination of men’s, women’s, or mixed – ideally creating A, B, C, and D level pairs. Levels are determined by using players’ Platform Tennis Index (PTI) – groupings are illustrated below. If you need to establish a PTI, use the Player Self-Rating Assessment tool located at http://platformtennismembers.org/selfrating/.
Matches will be eight game pro sets with no-ad scoring.
Your playing level is tied to your Platform Tennis Index (PTI). If you do not have a PTI you can use the APTA Player Self-Rating Assessment tool at: http://platformtennismembers.org/selfrating/
The Tenacity Paddle Classic fundraising goal for is $120,000. Funds raised go towards Tenacity programs and students. Teams will compete on the court, but the real competition is to see which team spreads the word the most, attracts the most donors, and sets the highest bar for funds raised. Team captains and players rally together as a team and also compete individually in the fundraising arena. Most importantly, teams are challenged to raise as much as they can to support the 6,000 Boston youth served by Tenacity. Teams, captains and players have individual online fundraising pages through which friends, family and colleagues can donate. Tenacity helps captains and players set up their pages and provides tools like email templates and social media tools that captains and players can use to engage their networks.
There are many ways to support the Tenacity Paddle Classic:
- Make a donation or donations to players, captains, and/or teams
- Create your own fundraising page
- Become a lead event sponsor, flight sponsor, or team sponsor
