Want to join a great marathon team

If you are up for the challenge of raising money, training during the summer months and running next October, then Tenacity wants to hear from you!

Tenacity is proud to announce that we have been invited to participate in the Boston Marathon® Official Charity Program for a ninth consecutive year.

We are currently accepting applications to fill our team of 15 charity runners for the 125th running of the Boston Marathon on October 11, 2021. Qualified runners are also welcome to apply and will receive the same team benefits with a lower fundraising minimum.

The Tenacity Marathon Team – TMT ’21 – will raise funds to support the important work Tenacity is doing to narrow the opportunity gap for students in Boston on their Pathway to Post Secondary Success.

Since 2013, over $1M has been raised through our marathon runners, averaging almost $10k per runner. Those funds support the programs Tenacity delivers to students on the Tenacity Pathway. Our goal with TMT ’21 is to raise $150,000.

TMT ’21 Requirements for All Runners

  • $5,000 minimum fundraising commitment – or $1,000 minimum for Boston Marathon® Qualifiers
  • $100 TMT ‘21 team fee – paid to Tenacity upon acceptance to team
  • B.A.A. registration fee – paid to the B.A.A.
  • Personal donation to kick off your peer-to-peer fundraising campaign

  • A personal fundraising webpage and online tools that make fundraising easy
  • Fundraising ideas, coaching and support
  • A marathon training program designed by Heartbreak Hill Running Company – customized for first timers, multi-time marathoners, or qualifiers
  • Saturday morning group training runs on the race course and other team events

  • A marathon day post race gathering party to celebrate your successes – near the Finish Line
  • A chance to meet Tenacity students as part of your efforts to help us narrow the opportunity gap that exists for those living in under-resourced Boston communities.

2021 Tenacity Marathon Team Application

By submitting an application for the 2021 Tenacity Marathon Team, you are agreeing to the Terms and Conditions outlined in the Terms and Conditions tab below. Please read carefully. The Terms and Conditions include important information regarding fees and fundraising commitment.

Please read the following carefully before submitting your application.

Fundraising Commitment

A minimum fundraising commitment of $5,000 is required to be accepted onto the Tenacity Boston Marathon® Official Charity Program team. The minimum fundraising requirement of $5,000 is due on or before October 1, 2021. The balance of your stated fundraising goal (the amount above the $5,000) is due on or before October 11, 2021. Tenacity will continue to accept donations after October 11, 2021.

B.A.A. Registration

Tenacity will inform you of the details of the B.A.A. registration process after your application has been reviewed and accepted. Of note, the B.A.A. charges a race entry fee for all invitational entrants. Please do not contact the B.A.A. regarding registration.

Tenacity Marathon Team Application Processing

The application process is rolling until the team is full. We do not use a first come, first served process, but rather we will build the team over the course of the fall with the best candidates to help Tenacity reach our collective awareness building and fundraising goal of $150,000.

Tenacity Marathon Team Acceptance

Tenacity will charge all accepted runners a $100 team fee to offset the costs of our training program and other expenses. A representative from Tenacity will notify you if you have been accepted onto the Tenacity Marathon Team. Upon your acceptance of our invitation, Tenacity will send you a link where you can pay the $100 team fee. This payment will not be applied to your fundraising commitment. This payment is non-refundable except in certain circumstances.

Upon receipt of this payment, Tenacity will mail to you the 2021 Tenacity Marathon Team Contract Agreement that you will sign, copy for your records, and send back to us. When this has been processed, your position on the team is secured. Tenacity reserves the right to remove a member from the team prior to B.A.A. registration.
