BCLA-McCormack Tenacity Newsletter 9-27-21

Hello BCLA-McCormack Tenacity Families!

Welcome to our first newsletter. Instead of a traditional newsletter, this year we elected to try something different. We will be using this website to not only share pictures and videos, but other updates about our students as well. We wanted our newsletter to be something fun and engaging for families so we figured the best way to do it would be virtual so we can share some of the fun pictures and videos we’ve taken so far! We will be posting two formal newsletters a month, but will be regularly posting some fun things as well! Keep your eye out!

September Recap

The start of the school year was very busy. As a site team that is full of new faces, we really took the first few days to get to know each other and the students. Whether it was icebreaker games, holding an Interview Day, creating poetry and the Tenacity Cup. September was certainly a busy month filled with new experiences, learning and fun!

Literacy

We have spent the first few weeks with some team building activities, developing a time capsule to be opened at the end of the year, and introducing our first major topic- Poetry. Students have used a strong level of creativity and storytelling to create Black Out Poetry.

Tennis

We’ve used outdoor space to begin building foundations of teamwork, discipline, respect, goal setting and, of course, foundational tennis skills. Dungeons and Dragons has been the class’ favorite game.

October Preview

With the start of October here, we’re excited to start getting into the rhythm of things. Students will have the option to join us for “Lunch Bunch” to engage with staff and students. We’re really looking forward to getting to know the students a little bit better in this less formal setting.

In addition to Lunch Bunch, we’re also starting After-School Homework Help and the After-School Tennis Club. Permission slips for these will be sent home this week so please get those back to us if you want your child to participate. Below is our schedule of events for the month of October. This includes, field trips, after school activities and school holidays.
