With both the Staniar Open and the Crane Cup tournaments around the corner, many schools are faced with a difficult decision: choosing which players to enter into the events. The Mario Umana Academy has several players vying to represent their school at these tournaments.

With the closing of the Tenacity Middle School League tennis season fast approaching, students now have their sights set on qualifying for the most anticipated final tournaments: the Staniar Open (May 12) and the Crane Cup (May 19).

The City of Boston is once again abuzz with the excitement of the Tenacity Middle School Tennis League. Fans and players have been closely following the early results to see who might be front runners for this year’s Crane Cup Championship.

Umana Unscathed, Frederick Mildly Scathed

We are three weeks into the season, and every team in the league has been tested at least once. In these early goings, it is only the Umana who has emerged unscathed, though the Frederick, undefeated with one tie, has only been mildly scathed.

Ranked 3rd in the pre-season poll, the Umana is the early leader in this young 2016-2017 TMSTL campaign. They most recently went into enemy territory and took down the defending Crane Cup champs, the McCormack, 3-1.
