Important Information about the 2020 Summer Tennis & Reading Program

Thank you again for your interest in Tenacity and for your patience and understanding as we navigate this unique time.

This summer we will be running both a virtual program and an in-person program.

The virtual program will begin on July 6th and run until August 14th. The program will run Monday through Friday. Next week, we will send the Zoom link to all those who are registered for Tenacity for the week of July 6th-10th. The same procedure will take place each week of the summer.

Here are the times that this virtual program will take place:

  • 10am-11am 6-10 year olds
  • 1:00pm-2:00pm 11-15 year olds

The in-person program will begin on July 13th and run until August 14th. The program will run Monday through Friday. This program will operate on the following schedule:

  • 8:30am-10:00 for 6-8 year olds
  • 10:30 – 12:00pm for 9-10 year olds
  • 1:00pm-2:30 for 11-15 year olds

This 3 session schedule is much different from previous years. We will do it this way so we can have fewer kids at the site at one time. This will help us follow the state regulations around COVID.

The in-person program will run at 8 Tenacity sites. Here are the sites at which we will be operating in-person programming:

  • Billings Field
  • Rogers Playground
  • English High School
  • Constitution Beach
  • Moakley Park
  • Hunt Almont Park
  • Martini Shell
  • Carter Playground

If you have registered for a site that is not on this list, you can re-register for one of these sites (you may have to create a new account). If there is over-enrollment, we will do a lottery system to select students to participate.

Our goal is to have as many students get the chance to participate and play in-person as possible. That may mean that some students who have already registered for a certain site on a certain week may not be able to join that week. We understand that these changes may be inconvenient for some schedules, but we are doing our very best to share this opportunity to the most number of people possible. Thank you for understanding!

An additional waiver regarding COVID-19 and contagious diseases will be required for participation. This waiver will be sent to families in the near future.

Summer Tennis & Reading Program – Boston

Each summer during July and August, Tenacity serves nearly 5,000 Boston youth ages 6-16 through our Summer Tennis & Reading Program (STRP) held in parks across the city. This dynamic program is offered free-of-charge on summer weekday mornings and afternoons.

Each age group meets for a session where time is split between tennis/fitness and summer reading activities. Offered in partnership with the City of Boston, Tenacity’s STRP provides an enriching learning environment for city youth, keeping minds and bodies active during the summer recess.
