Thank you for applying to be a Tenacity Cup Elite Player!

The Tenacity Cup tournament will take place at Longwood Cricket Club on Thursday, June 23, 2022. We’re thrilled that you’re interested in playing in the Tenacity Cup and appreciate your willingness to donate your time and impressive skills to the event! Thank you for submitting your application. Here’s what will happen next:

A. If a team Captain has already recruited you to be a member of their squad, and you are interested in fundraising, which is optional for elite players, please visit this link to establish your personal fundraising page. Building your personal page takes less than 10 minutes. If you need assistance setting it up, we’re here to help! Feel free to contact Brandon Andrusic at brandonandrusic@tenacity.org.

B. If you are not a member of a team, elite player applications will be reviewed by the Tenacity Cup Player Council to assess which teams still need elite players and try to find a great fit for you. Please understand that placement isn’t guaranteed.

The Tenacity Cup is going to be a very special day of camaraderie, tennis, and fun – it’s the tennis, education and business communities coming together to empower Boston youth.

We’re so pleased you’ll help us support such an important need – helping Boston youth dream big, work hard, and achieve great things.

If you have any questions about your application, please feel free to contact Brendan McCue at (617) 756-1145 or email brendanmccue@tenacity.org.

Warmest wishes,

Frequently Asked Questions

The Tenacity Cup is a tennis and fundraising competition to support Tenacity programs. Competitive and fun play will be designed for teams and players of all abilities. Teams will be comprised of adult players, celebrities, advanced players, and Tenacity students. There will be two, six-team flights vying against each other for the Tenacity Cup while raising money and awareness for Tenacity.

Longwood Cricket Club, with its beautiful grass courts and elegant clubhouse.

Each of the two flight divisions will have six or eight teams that play intra-divisional round-robin sets to determine a flight winner. Flight winners will square off in the semi-finals. Semi-finals winners will face each other to determine the Tenacity Cup champion.

Each team will be led by a captain who will help recruit and rally team members. Teams will have six doubles pairs comprised of one elite pair, four pairs of amateur players, and one pair of Tenacity students.

The Tenacity Cup fundraising goal is $1,100,000 and the Boston tennis, business and philanthropy community can do it! Teams will compete on the court, but the real competition is to see which team spreads the word the most, attracts the most donors, and sets the highest bar for funds raised. Team captains and players rally together as a team and also compete individually in the fundraising arena. Team captains commit to raising at least $5,000 and players commit to raising at least $2,500 each. Most importantly, teams are challenged to raise as much as they can to support the 6,000 Boston youth that Tenacity serves. Each team should feel great about raising at least $50,000. But the mission is worthy of much more. And, more is needed to reach our goal of $1.1M that funds the in and out-of-school programs we deliver year-round to kids that depend on them.

Teams, captains and players have individual online fundraising pages through which friends, family and colleagues can donate. Tenacity helps captains and players set up their pages and provides tools like email templates and social media tools that captains and players can use to engage their networks.
