BOSTON, MA, September 14, 2015 – Tenacity is thrilled to announce that we have been selected to be part of the Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) Official Charity Program for the 2016 Boston Marathon. According to the B.A.A., Tenacity was selected because “the B.A.A. greatly values organizations that strengthen our local community and align with our mission of promoting a healthy lifestyle through sports.”

Since 2013, the Tenacity Marathon Teams have raised over $425,000 to support Tenacity’s Pathway programs, which serve over 5,000 students a year. Money raised by the fifteen charity runners selected for the 2016 Tenacity Marathon Team will also go toward supporting the Tenacity Pathway programs.

Caroline Lane, a longtime member of Tenacity’s Board of Directors, will continue as Tenacity’s BAA Charity Program Liaison managing the team and the fundraising. “We are grateful to the BAA for inviting us back into the Charity Program, and I am thrilled to lead a new team toward two significant goals – completing the Boston Marathon – every marathoner’s dream – and raising awareness and funds for Tenacity’s programs for Boston students.”

About Tenacity

Founded in 1999, Tenacity’s mission is to improve the scholastic, character, and physical development of Boston youth. The organization’s ultimate goal is to close the opportunity and achievement gaps that exist for students living in under-resourced Boston communities. Through a combination of outcomes-based academic enrichment, mentoring, family engagement, and tennis/fitness coaching, Tenacity’s programs offer a Pathway to Post-Secondary Success that improves educational outcomes for students, increases graduation rates, and helps transform the lives of the youth they serve. Tenacity has maintained a 95% high school graduation rate among students who have completed their Middle School Academy, with 80% of those graduates going on to higher education. All combined, Tenacity’s programs serve over 6,000 youth annually. For more information on Tenacity’s Pathway programs, visit www.tenacity.org.
